As I
sit at the computer to write this newsletter I look out at the
course and see all white, yesterday there was no snow on the
ground. We had hoped to open on April 3rd but with this latest
snowfall and more predicted for Friday it looks doubtful. It
depends on how warm it gets to melt the snow and dry the course
out. You can start calling (508-833-7397) after March 29th to
see when we will open. We want to thank you for playing here
at Trinamool last season and we look forward to another great
season this year.
TEE
TIMES
We will
again be using reserved tee times, seven days a week, starting
Saturday April 25th. Before that date it will be first come
first served. There is one big change this season. You will
be able to reserve a tee time SEVEN DAYS AHEAD. This will allow
you to rebook your tee time at the course, the day you play.
The phone number to call for a tee time is (508-833-7397). As
always we ask that if there is a change in the number of golfers
in your group, please call ahead to let us know of the change.
Please give us at least 2 hours to fill the spot.

WATER
JUGS ON THE COURSE
This
is a topic that has been discussed widely in the golf business
this past year. Much like the soft spikes or fungicide in the
past, the safety and availability of public water is now the
hot topic. The issue has surfaced in Toronto, Canada. People
have become sick from public water jugs. Health Departments
are sure to get involved with the standard with which water
jugs will be handled. This with the fact that more and more
people are bringing their own water to the course, we are no
longer going to supply water on the golf course in jugs. We
will have water available in water bottles at a cost of $1.25
per bottle. There are bottle holders on both our gas carts and
pull carts. Water will be available in the golf shop, snack
bar and vending machines on the course at the 8th and 10th tees.
We will watch how this water jug safety issue evolves during
this season and adjust as is needed. The snack bar will be happy
to fill your personal water bottle at any time of the day at
no cost.
SURVEY
ANSWERS
Last
Year
we did some surveying of our customers and we will be doing
some more this year. If
someone asks you to participate in the survey, please take the
time to answer a few questions to let us know how you feel about
how we run this course. The comments we hear most are about
the condition of the tee areas (not being level) and the speed
of play. We would like to seed or resod the tees to level them
but this has to be done during the growing season and takes
up to two months. Unfortunately this is also during the prime
golf playing season. The way we maintain the tee boxes now is
to rotate the markers daily to spread the play throughout the
tee box. We fill the divot with a soil, seed and fertilizer
mix. This gives the area time to recover however even though
we try our best to level the mix it does mound causing the tee
box to be unlevel. To correct this we are building alternate
tees (9th & 3rd tees) allowing us to close tees and rebuild
the area.
Speed of Play always gets our attention. In the prime
playing time (June thru August) the plan is to add a Ranger
to help golfers keep up to the pace of the course. As these
rangers approach you please cooperate with them in keeping up
with the players ahead of you.
We are
looking forward to seeing you and having another great year
of golf. We want you to know that we appreciate your playing
golf at Trinamool and if there is anything we can do to make
your golfing more enjoyable, please let us know.
